INRTrac and the Importance of At-Home Monitoring

INRTrac is Orthodynamics, Inc.’s intuitive solution for at-home INR and vitals monitoring. Through this Bluetooth-enabled solution, patients and physicians are able to communicate health information with one another in real time. At ODI, we recognize that routine vitals monitoring is part of everyday life for most LVAD patients with at-home care plans. With INRTrac, patients can stay on top of their preventative care plan and see how at-risk they might be for life-threatening conditions like blood clotting and thrombosis.

ODI is here for any questions you might have about using INRTrac for remote monitoring. Below are a collection of patient resources to get started.

SIGNING UP FOR PORTAL ACCESS

Before you can start monitoring your vitals through INRTrac, you’ll need to sign up for portal access. Here’s how:

  1. Click Patient Login in the upper righthand corner. Then, click the Sign Up button
  2. Enter your last name, date of birth, and the Patient ID number, which can be found on your Portal Instructions Form that is included in your INR Kit.
  3. Click Patient Search.
  4. Once you see the prompt which says you’ve been successfully matched, enter your email address and create your password.
  5. Once you’re logged into INRTrac, you’ll see a few more prompts based on what your doctor has prescribed for you. Fill these out according to their instructions, then click the Review button.
  6. Click Confirm once you have confirmed your selections.

The same process is used if you have forgotten your password.

SETTING UP YOUR HUB AND METER

Before you attempt to share any biometric data with your care team, you first need to set up the hub and meter provided by Orthodynamics. Above is a step-by-step guide to unpacking and assembling your hub and meter in your home.

You’ll begin with assembling the hub. Once the hub unit is connected to a wall outlet, the red light on its front face will flash. This means the wireless unit has not yet found a signal. Once the light is continuously red, it is ready to use.

Then, you’ll put together the meter. This meter measures your INR. You’ll want to leave it plugged in, ideally beside the hub, so that it stays connected to the hub.

PAIRING THE METER TO THE HUB

If your meter unpairs from the wireless hub for any reason, follow the steps below to re-establish its connection:

  1. Press the Settings button.
  2. Press Communication Settings, then Bluetooth.
  3. Press the Reset button. Make sure both the Hub and Meter are plugged in and near to one another.
  4. You will be prompted to enter a code. The code is 573171. Once you’ve entered the code, press the arrow button.

The following videos show you how to test each vital step-by-step.

TESTING YOUR INR

USING THE SCALE

USING THE AUTOMATIC BLOOD PRESSURE CUFF

USING THE THERMOMETER

USING THE PULSE OXIMETER

Each LVAD patient has a unique care plan suited to their needs, so even if you use INRTrac, certain aspects of this guide may not be applicable to your kit and remote monitoring needs. Be sure to consult ODI or your doctor if you notice any irregularities or issues with the equipment provided.

QUICK TESTING TIPS

Here are some quick tips to improve your testing experience.

  • Make sure to wash your hands with warm soapy water. The water can help to warm your hands. Avoid using hand sanitizer or alcohol wipes; both of these can interfere with the test.
  1. Massage from the base of your finger to the tip of your finger while the meter is warming up. This will increase blood flow and make it easier to get the pea-sized drop of blood you need to test your INR.
  2. Order more testing supplies from ODI when you have 3 or 4 of each item left. This ensures that your new supplies reach you before you run completely out. You can order more supplies by phone or email.
